Nets of Oblivion

Nets of Oblivion

A Poem by E.V. Black
"

These trapped, starlit tears sparkle delicately upon tendrils of spider webs clinging onto dusty and shelved memories.

"

These trapped, starlit tears

sparkle delicately upon

tendrils of spider webs clinging

onto dusty and shelved memories.

The world hates.

People come, people go.

No remembrances of their existences

remain for me to cherish

in cold hands

frozen by bittersweet tears.

They fall, as we do sometimes,

trembling as they go,

from my glassy eyes.

So much pain,

and I cannot see

through it all.

I cannot see

what can be cast

into tainted nets

of oblivion.

The liquid crawling from

my eyes sparkle like stars

in the abysmal black universe.

I am swallowed by

its endless depths.

I forget all that

pierced my heart.

Those bleeding times were

too much for me to bear.

Whispering threads of feelings

threaten to consume my soul,

but I grasp onto it tightly

between sweaty hands.

I close my eyes and see

what I had to see

in the forgetful fisherman’s

soiled nets of oblivion.

If only pain could truly

be erased from heart and mind.

Surely then we would all

be rendered absolution from

the crimes we have exacted

upon those deserving of them.

Forgiveness comes with

the willingness to cast side

nets of oblivion into

better waters where fewer tears

are shed to continue its flow.

The beauty of pain is only

in the forgiving,

never the forgetting.

For, what crimes

could ever be forgotten?

The visuals jump from one person to many than back to the reader with a nice force not expected in the subject matter. Flowing of words and key points of pause made this a very excellent piece of work.

very strong and powerful poem. Full of pain and emotion. Nicely written and crafted!

Ooooh I love the poem and the authors notes one may forgive but does one ever forget good question. The cobwebs coated with your tears is beautiful, not as dark as your usual poetry but very deep. Keep em' coming
