Ode to Purple

Ode to Purple

A Poem by E.V. Black
"

Ode to the color that is my heart.

"

Ode to the color

that is my heart.

Regal bearing carries thoughts

of wholesome love.

I think of thee,

and nothing but.

In my dreams,

I envision only

the pleasant purple skies

overhead, teeming

with violet clouds.

I immerse myself

in the sea of purple,

which I awake

and asleep to.

What is purple?

A friend to my dreams.

An ally. My muse.

Thee hath no end

to thy epithets.

Simply, I seethe thy calm.

I am thoughtful here,

and I need no opiate

among purple walls

and light violet curtains.

I love the color

as I do my heart.

Should purple leave me,

I would be desolate.

So, my strange ode

to purple endures.

Author's Note

E.V. Black
I know the "ode" thing has become a total poetical cliche at this point. I wrote these, and my last two poems, earlier this week. I was trying to get my brain juices to flow, but they seemed stuck in motion. I've been that way ever since winter vacation began for me.

Hopefully, I will be coming up with more work for you reader to read. Last night, I had a wonderfully beautiful stroke of creativity and got three pages done on the first part of my latest story. Stick around and I might have something new to give you.

Love the regality of the colour purple although didn't enjoy the film lol.
Your ode is a loving tribute to your favourite colour showing the myriads of emotions it evokes within you.
