Dead of Night

Dead of Night

A Poem by E.V. Black
"

Beware the ones who creep and crawl on hands and knees.

"

Beware the ones

who creep and crawl

on hands and knees.

Their hungry groans

enamor the night

with visions of ghastly deeds.

Though they eat,

they are never sated;

they always wanted more.

They do want,

but what do they need?

Eternal rest will never

be theirs.

Beware the ones

who come with

hunger and begging

and torn limbs and

rotten stench.

Their poison pieces

the dead of night,

yet they could

be denied.

Beware the walking,

who know not

their true desires.

Beware.

The dead are of the night,

and they will never see the day.

Everything has been stripped,

leaving want

in its rawest form.

They are no thing

but the dead.
