Of Wick and Wind

Of Wick and Wind

A Poem by E.V. Black
"

Of wick and wind, there lay weakness underneath such potent strength.

"

Flickering inside of me,

a flame on a wick.

Tender to the touch

and dangerous to all.

So steadfast is

its immovable triumph.

Yet wind,

which feeds the steady fire,

may blow it out

in an instant.

Of wick and wind,

there lay weakness underneath

such potent strength.

Here inside of me,

there are both.

So in agreement with the underlined statement for are we all hiding our weaknesses beneath our outward strengths, so frightened to be seen as weak infront of others, your use of wick and wind as a metaphor is perfect. Keep em' coming

Of wick and wind, there lay weakness underneath.......had to read this line over and over a few times it is marvelous, as is this wonderful piece of wisdom you have penned so well.

Beautiful images to show our inner beings. :) Well done.

I like the logic your words. A wick can hold great power by light and warmth. Can be erased by a gentle wind. I like how you put the two together in this excellent poem.
