InflamedA Poem by E.V. BlackA great fire within me burns brightly. When they threaten me, the fire jumps to life and rages beautifully.
Calm me, O words of pen. Allow me to find solace in your lovely voice. Let me calm this flame, this fire within my soul.
My emotions are dealt out in numbers like cards of a shuffled deck. I spit out words of hatred, which are foul-tasting specimens on my tongue. I clench my fists as my teeth clamp together.
Help me, O words of pen! Help me to soothe the savage spirit within me that wants to savor the taste of blood upon my tongue. © 2011 E.V. BlackAuthor's Note
