Wander, Wonder

Wander, Wonder

A Poem by E.V. Black

Why do I wander

around and around?

Do I have no direction

or purpose for my life?

Oh souls,

lost and damned

to nothingness,

will I join you?

In a carnival

of leering smiles and

misleading words,

I am distracted.

In a funhouse

of distorted mirrors

and contorted identities,

where do I lay?

My questions pound through

the recesses of my tired mind.

The answers I see are elsewhere.

Still I wander

and wonder.

Sometimes we find ourselves just following along with the craziness of the world and not walking in our own direction because we have somehow forgotten which way we were headed. Well written.
