Floating Bag

Floating Bag

A Poem by E.V. Black

A parachute free-falling

from the sky,

carried by a pleasant

summer breeze.

So lonely in its journey,

so singular and bare.

Nothing to hold it down

with no hand to grasp it.

The sun shimmers through

plastic blue skin,

trying to see what’s inside.

It decides not for itself,

merely following

the tide of the wind.

A farewell to you

as you float towards the sun,

sure Icarus in his curiousity.
