No Rain Falls HereA Poem by E.V. BlackMother Nature's curse on mankind. The thunder rumbles, silent and still. Lightning breaks over the tall hill. It's patient, the storm, which strolls by, calmly waiting in the sky. Though the wind howls over head, below the world feels nothing coiled in bed.
The sky cries no extra tears, heightening the extent of the town’s fears. The earth begs to quench its thirst, but the sky refuses for earth is cursed. No rain falls here on this space of earth where things once grew in harmony and mirth. No rain falls here for Nature is angry with her reckless children so rude and nasty.
They chopped down her trees and polluted her air in mindless thought and void of care. They pillaged her waters for crabs and fishes, violating her restrictive wishes. No being was meant to take more than consumed. Because of them, their self-destruction loomed.
No rain falls here for what they did. Mother Nature’s wrath is nothing to kid. She will deprive the mouths of unruly offspring and once again in triumph will sing, “I am the earth; it is mine. It is everything but thine.”
No rain falls here for they are cursed to endure the ultimate thirst. © 2011 E.V. BlackAuthor's Note
