In My Dreams (Nightmares?)

In My Dreams (Nightmares?)

A Poem by E.V. Black
"

I can't figure out which is which and what is what here.

"

I float away into

a dreamless sleep

among my blankets

filled with troubling thoughts.

Tossing and turning there in

reality, I drift into

a different world...

Open my eyes

and I feel

the imaginary light

all around me.

Swirling pink

and purple skies.

All here in my own world

the air is sweet and

intoxicating.

Too pure to be real

in this fantasy.

Lullabies sung in

sweet honey voices

echo in the atmosphere.

I close my eyes

and open them again.

Here I lay in a field of

paper flowers.

Sweetness fills the air.

Here it is the same as before.

From far away I can

see your eyes,

but you are away from me

and I can't seem to

reach you.

Decadent souls

surround me

and drag me down

away from you.

I cry out, screaming

your name.

Fast the sharp pain

does come,

piercing my heart

with your sin.

Evil things whisper my name

from the dark.

I cringe in fear,

feeling the carnal desire

radiating from you

so far away.

Then you are against me,

pressing your

voluptuous lips hard

against mine.

Fleshly craving

burns bright within

my own body.

Sin flames passion,

flaring your eyes

and pressing harder.

The sensuous and luscious

taste of your presence

spellbinds me.

I yearn to pull away

yet come closer.

Is this a sweet dream

full of honey tones?

A nightmare raging

with sin and sorrow?

Damnation,

this is a proclamation

to my dream world.

Hello, I'm here.

What can I choose?

It seems like I'm

lost within a

continuous winding labyrinth.

I don't know if

I can ever escape

from this nightmare (dream?).

I can't figure out

which is which and

what is what here.

In my dreams (nightmares?),

the imaginary light

takes me back

to reality.

The silence of my slumber

is broken and I awake.

Was it a dream?

Or nightmare...?

Strongly influenced and inspired by Evanescence's "Imaginary."
Lovely song if you haven't heard it before. :) I love writing about dreams. So magical!

to hover with the spirit aflutter
with hopes of a brief relief

an oasis tempts to calm
a siren attempts to soothe

drawn upon lush lawns
a callow soul falls in holes

so deep begins the weep
the long does begin to end

a nectar reverie or lustful plea
the maze bring froth it's haze

hopes of a brief relief
hover in spirits aflutter
