No Promise

No Promise

A Poem by E.V. Black
"

I can't trust you anymore.

"

Building a wall

of trust is

back-breaking.

Carrying bricks of

emotions pent out

and just love is hard.

It can be worth it.

When you say something,

a promise,

it's believed to be real.

Your words...you didn't

mean them.

But promises are promises,

and promises are

meant to be kept.

There's no promise,

you say.

But I heard you say it.

Lies...all I hear are

lies. I'm sick of all

the false truths,

my fake hope in you.

It's not going to

get any better.

It's just going to

get worse,

much worse

with you around.

Knock down the wall,

defy me, betray me.

Break down my trust all

you like.

I did nothing to you.

Why are you saying

lies?

Whisper lies...I don't

listen. There's no hope

any longer. There's

no love, no trust in

you.

There's no promise anymore.
