Within the Darkness

Within the Darkness

A Poem by E.V. Black
"

Begotten my tortured soul.

"

Everything is dark.

I can see nothing.

I am blind.

If you were to

stab me in the side,

I wouldn't see the

blood,

but I would taste it,

smell its sickly scent.

I would hear your

cruel laugh rasp in

my ear.

They say I'm too selfish,

too ignorant,

too blind to see the

pain of others.

All I see is darkness.

Nothing more.

And if you were to

rip my heart out,

I would sense its

exit. But I wouldn't

feel it. Never would

I feel it.

Because I'm blind.

I can hear the sobs

of others in the night.

I can' t go to them.

They say I'm cruel,

but I'm just too numb

to feel anything.

I've grown to used

to pain that all I

see now is darkness.

Nothing more.

Within the darkness,

I was left here alone.

Within the darkness

I am numb and blind

and not wary of the

pain of others.

Within the darkness

I bleed profusely.

Begotten my tortured soul,

I do nothing for all

I see is darkness.

Nothing more.
