Memories of You

Memories of You

A Poem by E.V. Black
"

These memories of you make me feel the sting of loneliness.

"

That bright smile you used to wear

drew me from my darkness.

I still remember the day

when you remembered me.

How trite it must be that

I even say these things.

These memories of you

make me feel the string

of loneliness.

Still, I savor the solitude

being alone brings.

Life can never be perfect.

I don’t think it should.

No matter what I say,

my feelings will say it all.

As stupid as I might feel,

I know what is true.

Author's Note

E.V. Black
A long time ago, I got a crush on a boy. He was truly kind and he was a good friend of mine. He was only one year older than me. When I got my crush, I was only twelve and just discovering the world of romance and love. I felt awkward and stupid and never thought he would like me back. I suppressed my feelings and never did tell him. Many of my poems reflect that experience in life. I remember the fluttery feeling within my heart. Ever since, I have never once felt that way about someone.

Only him.
