over my soul...

my very ears. The only thing

I desire to hear is your

song, but...

you're gone.

 

No matter what they say to

comfort me doesn't matter...

I'll still be numb in the end.

I long to hear your heavenly

melody ring true once more

in the world...to tantalize

all who listen.

Your melody is dead, your

soul having departed this

world for eternity.

 

Your requiem is sung, but it

isn't the same here without

you near me. Now I know

how much I loved you

with my entire being.

Where are you?

I so desperately seek you

out, failing miserably with

each try. It's as if I...

never knew you.

 

How can I still be alive here

while you're gone?

Why am I still here?

You deserved a chance to

breathe the air of this earth

and to smell the sweet perfume

of flowers. You never had

a chance to discover yourself

or attain a kiss of true love...

never had a chance.

 

I yearn to see your face, to

hear your voice. I've

forgotten your identity in

the numbness of your

passing. I can't breathe

without feeling the guilt I

have. I sometimes think of

you...

what you would've been like

or who you would've been,

but...

I lost you.

 

I forgive you, and I always

will. I love you, my

beloved brother, for whatever

you would've been.

Author's Note

Before I was born, my mother miscarried a little boy who would have been my older brother. His name was Christopher and he never even got to live. Sometimes I wonder who he would have been and what he would have done. Now, I'll never now.
