Eden

Eden

A Poem by E.V. Black
"

The moment man ate the forbidden fruit, they were doomed.

"

Paradise was gained

but now is lost

Paradise was perfect

in all its glory,

given to man

by our Lord

Eden it was named

Eden contained all the

creatures of the world,

every plant and animal

The weather was made

absolutely divine

nothing was out of place

God created a woman

out of one of man's ribs

Adam was the man,

Eve the woman

He warned them against

touching the forbidden fruit

At first the humans

obeyed His command,

but, as always,

human curiosity prevailed,

prodded by Satan himself

Forbidden fruit

so sweet

you can't have it

Forbidden fruit

so sensuous

so hard to resist,

so evil in its temptations

Eat of the fruit

and be forever

drenched in sin

God found out the truth

and He banned them

from Eden for

all eternity

Temptations sweet

you can't bear it

Temptations longing,

you want more

Eat of the fruit

and you can

never go back

"The Lord God gave man this order: 'You are free to eat from any of the trees of the garden except of the tree of knowledge of good and bad.

"'From that tree you shall not eat; the moment you eat from it you are surely doomed to die.'"

--Genesis 2:16-17

Author's Note

E.V. Black
I think we've all been tempted at one point or another. :D
A general observation made a few years ago and, of course, inspired by the creation story.
