What I Write About

What I Write About

A Poem by E.V. Black
"

Into the mind of the writer.

"

Sometimes they wonder

why we writers write

what we write.

Why pain is never trite.

Why falling from heaven

never hackneyed.

Why lost love is never forgotten.

There is no comfort in peace,

in serenity and rest.

`Tis only the calming lull

`tween the hardships.

The struggle is apart

of human nature.

To fight, to battle,

and to win a most deserved victory,

that is satiating.

What I write about is you.

You and everyone else you know.

Common themes that appeal

to all of us.

`Tis boring to linger in happy delusions.

That’s not life but

a mere allusion.

What I write about is life.
