Downfall

Downfall

A Poem by E.V. Black
"

The movement has begun.

"

There is loss in

the far reaches of the mind and soul.

Beautifully scripted books are

left abandoned,

thrown to the side of the road,

in the introduction of

enamoring machines.

No longer do we humans

know how to think

or to learn.

We really depend on our own creations

to think and to do for us.

We have forgotten our past.

This downfall is,

and was, inevitable.

Now we will never remember

the gifts of our predecessors.

We have forgotten civilization

and everything else

that makes us human.

For those who remember,

never forget the true humanity

in the midst of the downfall.

Author's Note

E.V. Black
An expression of the literature movement I'm trying so desperately to begin. People are so consumed in their technology that they have completely forgotten the joys of handling and reading an actual paper novel.
Where have we come to?

Believe in literature.

This could be the theme for the 20th century. If this does not spark the mind then we are in trouble. You have spoken nothing but exact truth here.
