One Bite

One bite

is all it took.

Once begun,

I was hooked.

 

The pale fruit

is mine,

wonderfully warm

and shimmering shine.

 

This supple flesh is

too delicious to waste

for just one bite

and just one taste.

 

The hunger inside

perpetually grows

until its gnawing

is all I know.

 

These voracious hands

reach out for sin

and pull their

struggling victims in.

 

One bite

is all it takes

for a life

to eternally break.
