Nothing Has Begun

Nothing Has Begun

A Poem by E.V. Black
"

Nothing can start if nothing is begun.

"

Nothing can end if

it’s not begun.

Love can’t exist

if it doesn’t blossom.

The seed can’t be sowed

if there’s no water,

no soil,

to feed it.

Nothing has begun.

The fire can’t be fed

if there’s no wood.

A person can’t be born

if they have no soul.

I ask,

Do I have a soul?

To feel would be divine.

but with this curse

of mine

I am doomed to be frozen.

Nothing has begun for me;

neither has anything ended.

Life goes on

and nothing has begun.

Words can’t be spoken

if there’s no breath.

A sound can’t be heard

if no one’s there to make it.

Life can’t go on if there’s

no never-ending circle.

A heart can’t be broken

if it can’t feel.

I say to you now,

What can I do?

There is no hope for me here.

There never was.

My fate has always been

clear to me.

Nothing can go on

if nothing has begun.

A life can’t be ended

without a purpose.

Someone can’t be killed

without a hand to wield

the blade.

I can’t feel.

Love is absent from my frozen heart.

Nothing lives here.

And nothing can go on

if nothing has begun.
