Girl in the GlassA Poem by E.V. Blackno one can save herDon’t you hear my screams, ripping me at the seams?
tearing me apart, shredding my heart
into many little pieces, folding into creases?
They’re there, inside my head, haunting me while in bed,
lingering late at night, never-ending fright,
stealing my breath, choking me to death,
gripping my chest, freezing my breast.
That pain no one knows, the one that never shows,
that hides in sweet smiles, the one that always beguiles,
the air of mystique making interest pique,
and seeing the pain, they don’t want it again.
They want to know her, they one they favor; they don’t crave her and no one can save her,
the girl in the glass, she who I pass
in the hall, in the dark, in school, in the park,
a mirror here, water there, I see her everywhere.
I am she, she is me. We will never be free. © 2017 E.V. BlackAuthor's Note
