FriendshipA Poem by E.V. BlackIt is the perfect love that is given without expectation of reciprocation. This night I shared my time with friends. We talked and laughed and ate and enjoyed our evening together. Before, we had a weak bond holding us close. It could be easily marred by the slightest movement. Gradually, it has strengthened to something of Herculean power. No human could tear the bond of our steely friendship.
I feel the truest connection among us three. Warmth radiates from my soul in my bosom to the tips of my fingers and my toes. In all my years of life, I have never before felt this warm. It is the warmth of good society and of profound connection. It is wonderfully beautiful. It is what I have longed for. It is the true friendship that once haunted my wakeful reveries and my slumbering dreams. It is everything I have always wanted.
I am grateful for these two. In their society, I am whole. In their presence, I am someone. All my faults are washed away when I am with them. I love them. It is the perfect love that is given without expectation of reciprocation. Merely, it is only good to love one another. For what else are friends for?
Love abounds within my exhilarated soul. I say not “my heart” for this love truly comes from the core of my being. It is contagious; I yearn to infect others with its eternal joy. I appreciate them, more than these written words can convey. © 2014 E.V. BlackAuthor's Note
