Farewell

Farewell

A Poem by E.V. Black
"

I sing a song of farewell that is everything I feel.

"

I sing a song of quietude

that rings within my head.

Once upon a time,

there was love between us too.

Now, you lie and say it

never was.

Please remember that

I’m the one who saw

the sparkle in your eyes

at seeing a not-seen friend.

I sing a song of gratitude

that reverberates in my soul.

Once upon a time,

there was hate from you.

I only gave you

love and concern,

as a friend is supposed to.

What more were you

looking for?

I sing a song of farewell

that is everything I feel.

I thank you for

opening my eyes to the world.

I thank you for

being my friend when you were.

I thank you for

bittersweet memories,

which I’ll always cherish.

I thank you,

and I wish you

the best in life,

though you won’t do

the same for me.
