The Price of TearsA Poem by E.V. BlackOne tear can hold millions of emotions.Pearls, diamonds, and rubies are worth millions in human eyes. Shining, radiant, and prismatic stones that sit in the palm of the hand. Cold. Expensive. Pearls are grains of sand ground together rubbed until lustrous. Should they be worth much? They are no different from tears.
Tears. Created from fresh water and salt separated first and mingled within the body. They crawl from the eyes. Warm. Priceless. Worth nothing except some sympathy or pity. Yet, they mold in the palm and warm the skin. One tear can hold millions of emotions. Sadness. Anger. Wist. Joy. Frustration. Unlike stones, their clear nature allows them to become any color they like. They shine as radiant as any jewel. Regardless, tears are worth nothing for those who shed them or to those who observe them. They are neither kept nor treasured. So, what is the price of tears?
If this could be answered, a reply would be ready. It is the eye of the beholder that must judge the product of its creation. © 2013 E.V. BlackAuthor's Note
