PlanetsA Poem by E.V. BlackIn the orbits of planets, stars whisper little lies that go unheard. In the orbits of planets, stars whisper little lies that go unheard. Only the asteroids (shifting about in their constant belt) listen with full attention. The planets pay no heed. They are bigger. They are stronger than spinning asteroids and murmurings stars. Far above and beyond, their solid matter keeps them on their paths.
The universe’s darkness can be cold and lonely. The planets know each other and keep their company. Only Pluto, the smallest and the farthest, is lonelier than all the others. No one understands the plight of a non-planet. No one understands its orbit and its singularity. It hardly feels the sun’s warmth on its desolate surface. Does that mean it doesn't care? No. It’s not given the chance.
When the planets align, all are at home in the galaxy. Even Pluto (loneliest of them all) feels one with the others. They all breathe a sigh of relief in their astronomical positions. © 2013 E.V. BlackAuthor's Note
