Forget You

Forget You

A Poem by E.V. Black
"

I will remember you, but I will forget you.

"

All the times we shared,

all the lies were blared,

and still I can’t

forget you.

in the midst of everything,

my mind still wanders

to you.

The pain is fresh

and very unfair.

They tell me

you don’t matter,

but how can I

forget you?

You made me cry,

those bitters tears flowing

from my eyes.

You said that you would

be my friend

until the very end.

What lies, what lies!

There is no remorse

in your eyes.

Only the sweetness

of apathy for all

around you.

Still, why can’t I

forget you?

It’s not right,

the way things are.

Somehow our friendship

went too far.

Where did the truth end?

Where did the lies begin?

I shouldn’t have to

ask something so

half-assed.

I don’t want to

think about you.

Every time I do,

I feel the blue

pulsing of sorrow

in my chest.

There is no rest

from thinking

about you.

Still, I will try,

even though I will cry.

I can’t escape the pain,

which will come again.

Though you made me hurt,

I forgive you.

it could be worse.

I could hate your face,

and no one could replace

the direction of that feeling

that would go reeling.

I will remember you,

but I will forget you.
