Sea

Sea

A Poem by E.V. Black
"

I’m drifting into the wide and open sea.

"

Drifting,

I’m drifting

into the wide and open sea.

Going.

I don’t know where

I’m going.

Drowning.

I think I may be

drowning.

I’m sinking.

I’m sinking

below the waves.

Growing.

The pressure is growing,

constricting my chest.

The water is filling

my lungs,

and I can’t

choke it out.

More and more

comes flooding in.

Darkness.

Black out.

Oh my god, the structure of this poem makes it looks like waves in the sea. I am head-over-heels in love with this. The short lines work so well for drowning, it's literal drowning, figurative drowning, short and cruel. Lovely.
