Golden Chains

Golden Chains

A Poem by E.V. Black
"

Their cold and passive faces distantly scan my worn countenance.

"

Bound to the clouds,

I am trapped by

ethereal beings.

Their cold and passive faces

distantly scan my worn

countenance.

I do not know what

they will find.

I am a prisoner of Heaven.

For what I have done

I will pay for eternity.

All I did was love,

a crime against

angelic nature.

My wings were stripped from

my back, defiant weeds

perceived to hold no purpose.

Their hands left immortal

wounds, scars that, once healed,

will bleed with pain

forever.

It was not my choice

to fall as I did.

If it is a crime to love,

then maybe

the divine Lord made a mistake.

when creating me.

I have not forgotten

to serve Him as

I have always done.

I love Him to infinity.

He cannot show me mercy,

has not shown mercy.

I suffer in the passive faces

of countless angels.

The golden chains of divinity

hold me in place,

refusing my desired escape.

I accept it.
