Where do you draw the line

Where do you draw the line

A Poem by Wolfgang Evilsizer
"

How much should a person give until they decide it is not worth it anymore? Each of us has varying degrees of where we draw the line with the thankless friend.

"

My friend takes what she can get

From whomever she can get it

She says that she is an opportunist
Children would call her a user

To her people are only worth the services they can provide
As she has no idea how to truly get to know someone

Instead of growing friendships
She grows a wall around her heart

Accepting being used, her friends will still try to get to know her
But she pushes them away as she has no idea how to share herself

When she recognizes the usefulness is gone
She doesn’t call them back until she needs them again

She wonders why she doesn’t have any true friends
Or why her sis doesn’t talk to her back

How can she be so blind to the cause of her situation?
If she could only learn to give, her tragedy could be resolved

I love my friend but my usefulness must be gone
As she is pushing me away as well
