Lesson Learnt

Falling in love, opening yourself up & getting your heart broken.

All you had to do was text to bring a smile to my face,
Just being near you would make my pulse race,
One look in your eyes sent shivers down my spine,
I found it so hard to believe that you were really mine.

I Showed you the real me, the side I hide away,
You wrapped your arms around me and told me it would be okay,
You taught me how to live again and you taught me how to trust,
The more I got to know you, the deeper i fell in love.

I don't know what happened - where it all fell apart,
I don't know what I did to make you break my heart,
Those things that you said stay with me today,
I'm not even sure if they'll ever go away.
Just like my heart, my trust is now shattered,
And I can't stop wondering if to you i even mattered,

But that's the last time that i'll ever get burnt,
That's one thing you've taught me and this lesson's well learnt!
