Off The Beaten TrackA Poem by MaireadI wonder through the darkness, On this path I've come to know so well, Surrounded by the negativity, In this place that I call Hell,
Pain and hurt around me, Misery at every turn, Each harsh word pierces me, Each cold stare burns,
My heart is broken, It lies trampled on the floor, But at this very moment, I fear I don't need it anymore,
They say time is a healer, And can make the pain stop, But to be honest, I think that's a load of crap,
For years I've been hurting, Hanging on to hope, Trying endless remedies, Just to help me cope,
My mind is confused, My sanity slowly dying, But as long as I fake a smile, Nobody notices I've been crying,
For now i'll keep on walking, Down this path in the dark, Searching for a light, Searching for a spark, Maybe I will reach the end, And everything will be fine, I just hope that I can get there, Before I lose my mind. © 2011 Mairead |
