DrowningA Poem by MaireadMy Struggle with depression
Her happy eyes are filled with lies,
So nobody hears her muffled cries, Cries for help and for salvation, But somehow they are lost in translation, She desperatly wants to call out for help, But she's drowning in fear without a life belt, She knows she's sinking deeper onto the ocean bed, She knows she's hanging on barely by a thread, As she hits the bottom, she knows she may never reach the top, She wonders if she should keep fighting, or should she just stop, Just then a beam on light comes shining from above, Coming down upon her just like a dove, She decides that she needs to carry on with her fight, So for now she'll keep on trying to reach that bright beam of light [Written in 2005] © 2011 Mairead |
