Spellbound

Spellbound

A Poem by Mairead
"

A poem about a doomed relationship. She loves him, he treats her badly. He makes promises he cannot keep and she takes him back. Now she realises they are doomed.

"

'Spellbound'

You're holding my heart hostage,

Afraid to let it go,

That's not fair,

One look from you and I can't breathe,

When did you sink so low?!

One glance into your eyes,

And my logic goes out the door,

I forget all the pain and misery,

I don't think I can do this any more.

You play on my weaknesses,

You know just what to do,

You know the words to whisper,

To make me stay with you,

But I have to break the cycle,

History cannot repeat,

I have to do what's best for me,

It's time for us to admit defeat!
