Lifeboat

Lifeboat

A Poem by Ripped Denim 💜

Dazed and blind in a raft
brain baked, beyond doubt daft
shrieks betray fall from reason
a squalid petty treason
My feelings don't matter
mad, as I am, as a hatter
They bounce dumbly off walls
reminding when death calls
within and around, dwindling away
from tatter, wrack, and fray
From dreams a bell knells
and a crow's eye the answer tells
what and how and where
but scant limns that to beware
nor why the what is never a whom
nor why adrift upon shoals agloom
Perhaps the way ahead is aft
spinning lines for foggy craft
Such pain i lose my breath
Remember how close is death
Such bleeding that i cannot see
Memento mori.
