The Soldier

Forever he will stand among the few,

Fighting and knowing what he must do.

 

Protecting his men is always on his mind,

The safest way out is what he must find.

 

Sacrificing everything till the war is won,

Doing what he has to to get the job done.

 

Even when hes home & out of the fight,

He prays for those still there every night.

 

The memories still play throughout his head,

Making it hard for him to go to bed.

 

Only the love of his girl can calm him down now,

She just wishes she could help him somehow.

 

When he gets scared she lets him hold her,

For the war is never over in the mind of a soldier.
