Sidelines

Sidelines

A Poem by Evelynn

I don’t care how much I love you
I don’t care about my heart
I just want you to be happy
Even if that means we’re apart
So I’ll stand here on the sidelines
And give you good advice
I’ll watch it all from a distance
And tell myself some pretty lies
I’ll fool my friends into thinking
That I don’t love you anymore
Even though I’m breaking inside
I won’t let these tears pour

It's the hardest place to be. But cheerleaders are hardly ever the focus and they are always on the sidelines. So while they play their game, stay positive and cheer them on. I guarantee that you won't go unnoticed for long. Keep your chin up and dont lie to yourself. You deserve the best - self love is key.

Thank you!
This is one of the most realistic explanations of how it might feel to be on the sidelines of someone's life. I am the type of person who would not settle for this position, but then again, I've never been a parent either. I kept thinking "mom" when I read this, even tho I believe it's meant for some romantic love object. I feel you've conveyed the sadness of self-sacrifice in a very realistic way (((HUGS))) Fondly, Margie

Hmm..

I'm not sure if this is what you mean, but I understand what its like to love someone who will never know. In my case its just that I'm not good enough for her; I can say hi, or have a conversation, but never anything more. Changing this is my motivation to improve.

Honest and strong words in the poem. Hardest place to be. Watching someone escape you and you had accepted the goodbye. Thank you Evelynn for sharing the amazing poetry.

I can relate with this. Very strong emotions put in simple words, I really liked this, it takes courage to be so.
