I Stood OutA Poem by MissSpazztasticHow I Met Him
My brothers wedding,
Beautifully crafted by women, Everyone was dressed in white, Even the men-- I was dressed in yellow, I was the little sister of the groom, I was the flower girl, And I stood out-- My hair was pulled into a cute bun, My eyes were light with make-up, My six year old body was just beginning to grow, And I looked better than the bride-- Her father died when she was 4, So she walked with my father, And I could see her tears, They stained her pretty white dress-- I stood at the alter and smiled, Showing everyone my clean teeth, (my brother made me brush!), And I knew I loved him. Right. Then. He stood beside my brother, He was wearing white, But his tie was striped, The color was yellow-- Ten years later I was 16, I was standing at my brothers funeral, Everyone was wearing black, Even the women-- I was wearing pink, I was the little sister of the deceased, I was the pitied one, And I stood out-- I stood at the podium and smiled, Showing everyone my clean teeth, (I forced myself to brush), And I knew I loved him. Still. Now. He stood beside my sister-in-law, He was wearing black, But his tie was striped, The color was pink-- Ten years later I smiled, Showing my clean teeth, (My fiance made me), And I Knew I Loved Him. And Always. Will. My flower girl was a boy, My ring bearer was a cat, Everyone was wearing pink, Even The Men-- I was wearing yellow, I was the blushing bride, I was the little girl-- now a woman, And I stood out-- © 2010 MissSpazztasticAuthor's Note
