Child Abuse

Child Abuse

A Story by Bella
"

Iv someone you know is being child absused......you need to tell someone, before.....

"
"Wait, what?"
"Its true, Im not lying." My best friend Nick stares at me through shocked eyes. "You look surprised."
 "im not, its just...."
It scares me, I add silently. My heart gives a sudden lurch, like someone falling off a cliff. My throat seems to be jumbled up in a mess of  bile and something else....Maybe fear?
"Look at me," says Nick, and I look at him, right in his bright green eyes. He brushes my hair out of my eyes with the back of his hand, which is strong, like metal. "Is there something you want to tell me?"
I pull away from him. "No, Nick, its nothing. I promise. Why cant you just leave me alone on this topic? Some kid died because their parent abused them. That makes me feel a little scared, thats all."
"Look, Claire, dont be so uptight about, alright. Unless something like that has or will happen to you then you should be scared, but thats not the case."
Just then, my phone beeps and I can nust feel the lurch that my heart gives, as if going on a really big drop in a roller coaster. The message flashes across my screen.
"Look, I have to go, alright?"
I dont give him a reply, though I just know that i wont make it in time. She didnt even give me time!
I rush up the stairs to the old apartment, and open it with an unintended force.
The first thing I see are bottles, everywhere, on the counter. Then I see the evil witch, coming around the corner.
"Your late," my stepmother says.
 "Im sorry."
"Where do you think you get to use that tonewith me?"
She makes sure to block the door, and I prepare.....
 For death.
