You've Got Eyes Like a Hurricane

You've Got Eyes Like a Hurricane

A Poem by EverEmma

Static
Forcing too small earbuds in my ears
The familiar click
Of success
No volume
Play button neglected
Shuffle?
No, too risky
I don't want to miss
The ones I truly love
Sound bar
Turned to the
Maximum
I hear nothing
Until...
A familiar voice
Drowns out the world
Before I know it
I am telling
The boy I like
How much I really do like him
Flying across Skyway Avenue
Burning my dreams into the skyline
And tattooing my sweat in tears
I'm rough and ready
For the deadly game
Stars are being promise
And I'm finding
My guts to fly
I have a Summer love
But he doesn't even know
He cannot hear
Over the roar of
The guitar
And the voice that croons
Of a storm
And the girl with eyes
Like a hurricane
Hey hey hey hey
Travis Clark?
You've no clue what you do to me

A good bit of this poem is a play on song lyrics from a band called We The Kings. You probably know them from their 2008 song, Check Yes Juliet. Travis Clark is their lead singer, and one of the most amazing people I've ever known of. :)

Here are the songs I took lyrics from (In order starting at line 19)

-Say You Like Me
-Skyway Avenue
-Stay Young
- All Again for You
- Promise the Stars
-Summer Love
-What You Do to Me

I like the flow and the feel of good emotion in the poem. A woman when she desire can be like a hurricane with her desire. I like the story and the very strong ending in the outstanding poem. Thank you for sharing the excellent poem.
