I Am Free Monologue         By: Emma Anderson 6/29/2011

I am free! (Fist up) They can’t lock me up like a mangy dog, no more. They can’t tell me that who I am or what I look like is wrong. They can’t keep behind bars, hold me on a leash, or leave me to starve. They can’t let the crack of the whip resound through their ears. They can’t hold me in when I’m dying to get out. They can’t grab me by the scruff of the neck and pull me away. They can’t bark commands in my ear of spit in my face. They can’t contain me anymore. (Get quieter and rub back) Now, I may have scars across my back and nothing to my name, but (smile) I have lips to smile and legs to walk. If you ask me that’s all a man needs because I am free!
