So You Say You're In Love - July 24, 2010A Poem by EvaMackenzie
So you say you're in love
But I've heard this all before I need some convincing This time How's it different? So you say that you're happy Then why are you crying? Are those tears of joy? Or are you just lying To yourself? So you say you're meant to be With him and no one else Then why are you cheating Yourself out of finding Your true love? The way that you're cheating On him With everyone else So you say that you've mended All of the problems you once had So why are you broken? Left to pick up the pieces By yourself So you say you forgive him Have you already forgotten All of the things He's said to you? Has he said that he's sorry? Or do you blame yourself For the things That he's done? So you say you're in love Over and over, all the time Is it me you're convincing? Or maybe your doubts Have you questioning? So you say that you love him But maybe what you love Is the idea? Is that why it's hard To come up with the reasons That he is the only One who is worthy Of your true love? So you say you just know But if you really did Would you still be persuading? Are you convinced yet? Because I'm not believing So you say you're in love?
