Blessed

Blessed

A Poem by Eudaimoniac

Low and beholden,
sweet and softly and subtle,
the protector watches him;
calculating movement
caught only briefly in
the interchange of
shadows,
the instances between
shadow,
and the breaths stolen
so heedlessly for fear
of some detection.

There perched the nimble bird,
head cocked to one side and
with beady eyes - to seek
some sign
of terrifying admission.

Her mouse sits, encased,
ensafed-eternal,
external submission
from any moment of
action;
forever sat blessing
this captive’s angel.
