Pissing Brits

Pissing Brits

A Poem by ettorney
"

A bit of taking the piss and why Americans just don't get it.

"
Taking the Piss?
Now what is this?

Us Yanks take a pee
In the bathroom you see
or perhaps if we're free on a tree.

You Brits laugh or shout
And Insult those about
Those friends who have doubt
Can get the hell out

The meaner the joke
The redder the bloke
His ears will blow smoke
So the harder he'll choke
The bigger the laugh the better the poke

Take the piss of Yank
And he'll spit what he drank
For that jibe he won't thank
His jaw he will drop on the floor with a clank.

To us it's not funny
We don't see it as sunny
No love for that crack even dripping with honey

Taking the piss is for the Brits
The Yanks don't have the wits

Cause this
is taking the piss.

For all my British and Australian friends who ever tried to take the piss of an American and got insulted or punched for their efforts. LOL

And often can become mean and sexist and racist all in the name of 'taking the piss.' And I say that as Brit.
Go for them, brother.

Now, I have heard Brits say that they are taking a piss, when they are leaving. Or, when they tell you to take a piss, they want you to leave. I have, also, heard it referred to as relieving themselves of one thing or another. Regardless, by the time I find even the filthiest of gas stations, sometimes, I sure do enjoy taking a piss.

E - Not sure I completelu understood your point, but I liked in anyway and devons filled in some of the blanks. I mean I certainly understood the Pyhons sense of humor not finding it a whole lot different than Archcie Bunkers.

*consults English-to-English dictionary*

*looks perplexed*

*skips off to find a sexy British man to explain*

Coincidence, or what...? Funny. Yeah, I get it!
The nearest American equivalent i can think of is 'wiseguy' or 'wiseass' for the British 'taking the piss'. Whereas we say we are 'pissed off' (fed up, annoyed, etc), you say 'pissed' - which in England means you are 'drunk'..
There's been a fallacy going round for years that Americans don't understand 'irony' - i never got that because American humour is laden with the stuff!! Especially Jewish humour. I think this 'irony' question comes in where 'taking the piss' is concerned - you see, the English tend to 'take the piss' as a matter of course.. Where i come from it is used in normal everyday conversation. For instance, instead of just saying 'good morning' many men will say 'how's it going, you old f*****g b*****d?!' or 'Dave! Ya f*****g w*nker!' (in case you don't know, 'w*nker' means 'someone who masturbates often' - which can apply to practically everyone really, i suppose) In fact, here, swearing is so commonplace that the only word left that isn't allowed to be spoken at any time on t.v. nowadays is 'c*nt'... so that word has become our favourite...

Anyway, this is a very amusing poem, emphasising the humorous differences between language use - and there are many..!

Drinking, peeing--never judge until you have to clean the bathroom! HAHAHAHA!
