Soilders

Soilders

A Poem by E.Tingley

She was laying in bed
It was half past three
He was packing his bags
Wearing army green

Tossing and turning
She couldn't sleep
Thoughts of losing him
Started to creep
Into her pretty little mind
A pretty little girl
Is what he left behind

From every letter he sent
To the things that he missed
The birth of their daughter
She was more sad than pissed

I wish it would stop
Why can't it end
I need him here
She said to her friend
I miss him so bad
Why can't he be here
With me and our baby
Holding us near

The next letter he sent
Said please don't worry
It might be a while
But love I'll try and hurry
A couple weeks later
She was sitting on the steps
When the officers pulled up
And to her they said
It's hard to say
But I'm afraid he's gone
Miss, I'm sorry
It'll get better before long

I wish it would stop
Why can't it end
I need him here
She screamed to her friend
I want him so bad
He needs to be here
She couldn't speak
As she wiped away her tears

Before long
A letter arrived
It read I miss you my love
Please don't you cry
If you got this
I'm already home
I'll wait for you honey
Your not alone
I'm sorry for everything
I left my pretty girl
Do me a favor
And give our baby the world
One you'll move on
Honey I need you too
You'll make a man really happy
Just know that I love you

I wish it would stop
Why can't it end
I love him so much
She cried to her friend
Why is he gone
Why can't he be here
With me and our daughter
Holding us near
