Knowing SolasA Poem by VertoAtrumThe first of many Dragon Age Inquisiton poems I have planned to write. This one is about one of my Inquisitors, Drielle, getting to know and befriend Solas.
As our eyes laid upon each other,
We danced out of our bodies, But moved so slow With greetings so formally stiff, Names or intentions unknown, Our covers blown You eye my "knives" with pride, Then eye the blades in their sheaths, Another elf, I see Your words wonder and wander, Intelligence beyond this world, A pleasant mystery As we fight the demons, we are beside, Arching dancing lights to enemy's hearts, The fade inside us two Our path cleared, we venture onwards, Still catching glimpses of each other, Yes, I've noticed you Later we speak of faded dreams, Spirits who are in need of help, Sympathetic nods Dalish rolls off your tongue like venom, And off mine like bittersweet wine, Though I defy the odds You've seen reason in unreason, A feat which curls my pale lips, Although politely Formal turns to friendly fast, Your frown turns into a knowing smile, Ever so slightly Tragedy struck us all so soon, The Haven we knew buried and cold, So suddenly And through a harsh blizzard I prevail, Although all our people have not, We breathe painfully But with you as my guide, we trek, Together at the front of the lines, Piling up the days We straddle a peak some time later, You survey a spot with imminent meaning I follow your gaze There it stands, a fortress, lost to time, Yet standing strong as an ancient tree, As you say, "Skyhold" I step forward, towards the quiet stones, Behind me you crease your brow, solemn, Watching as I go © 2015 VertoAtrumAuthor's Note
