I'm A Better Man Than You

I'm A Better Man Than You

A Poem by VertoAtrum
"

This is dedicated to all of the cis men who bash, insult, demean, and threaten FtMs (female-to-male) Transgender folk, such as myself. We are sometimes better people than you and your hate are.

"

When you spit right on my shoes,

When you glare like I'm a prude,

When you scoff and just rebuke,

You'll never realize....

I'm a bigger man than you

If you call me f*g and fake,

If you think I'm a mistake,

If you won't shush for goodness sake,

You'll start to realize....

I'm a bigger man than you

How you sting with your remarks,

How your life isn't quite as dark,

How your hate has left its mark,

Is when you'll realize....

I'm a bigger man than you

Now your pride is not so sure,

Now that I shut the closet door,

Now that your words are so ignored

You have realized....

I'm a better man than you

I read this piece BEFORE reading the description...and it was still an awesome then, awesomER now.
This unisex poem is the kind of necessary writing I personally like to come across (especially since I don't specialize in outwardly expressing such thoughts). There's a saying, "Those that don't get it, DON'T GET that they don't get it." In other words, bashers, haters, racists and the like go out and get a job (or a second one) so you can afford to buy a clue! What you fear, feel threatened by (or tempted by), or don't understand because it's not your world doesn't mean it's a world beneath yours, it only means there is variety in this one world. Thank God for that...or we might have all been like you and that last powerful war to destroy everything with nukes (because of differences) would've happened by now!
Awesome (100/100) share, thanks

I feel this is so wonderful and empowering to all those men who are not straight, also women too if you read it from a woman's perspective. Anyway, it's always good to tell yourself that those who put you down are just worthless scum. Glad you are able to look beyond their insults and tell yourself that you'll always be the bigger person, no matter what they might say or do. I'm bisexual, but I came out shortly after I graduated highschool, but realize how much different my experience would have been if I came out within any of my earlier years. I sometimes regret coming out so late and other times I don't. It's worth it, but at the same time, it pays a huge price. People focus too much on what defines a person, I feel. They focus on how they look, dress, act, when really all you have to do is see the person beneath all of that...and they shouldn't criticize what they don't understand just because its different from what society wants. People should be free to be whoever they want!
