Waking UpA Poem by VertoAtrumHow it feels to me.I am weighed down by the harsh fog that lingers, Over my eyes, and creeps out my mouth in the form of whispers My body seem to gain weight rapidly, and sheds it after, Like the skin of a snake, the memories of my dreams fall off me I shake my head, sigh, and my thoughts leave, Trampling over one another in an attempt to break the sequence All my senses awaken at once, and all pain floods forth, I tingle and itch, and stretch my weary arteries My vision is blinded with the sun's violent burns, I blink, twice, thrice, and they dissipate, like sugar in water I rub my conscious from my eyes and lips, and breathe, The air smells like everything I've ever known All responsibilities flood back like a wind sucking itself in, And the day has begun, and moves to the next victim to arise © 2014 VertoAtrumFeatured Review
