A bleak candle lanternA Poem by Ethan RodriguezIt's wicker flickers throughout the gloom, The boy left his room.
The boy walked out onto the oak wood porch.
And lit the wicker of the candle lantern.. He stood, watching it flicker. It fights off the morning gloom. But, after time, he heads for his room. His mother exits the oak wood porch. A flame rises from her hands. The corporation creates them for Societies demands. And she lets the smoke arise from her mouth. The morning arises. And the boys father flips a chair, Broke a window, caused the mother despair. And the boy asks why do people die. But his sister only cries. And as night comes, the boy awaits under the light Of a bleak candle lantern. waiting for his father to return. And the light flickers. The Boy begins To loose hope. The candle lantern wickers, and it looses his his light Mother how do i fight. The mother doesnt light. She just stairs in despair Screaming its not fair. Wanting her husband home tonight. And the mist fills his room. it knows his pain.. And the lantern shatters. And doesnt fight back. This isnt a game. Im in pain © 2016 Ethan RodriguezAuthor's Note
