Admired from afarA Poem by A Drawer of Paper RosesInspired by my day
I idly played with the doorknob.
Bored, as usual, just as any other day It felt like the life was being sucked out of me That is, until you came If only you knew what you do to me It was funny, you had to call my name twice First, I didn't hear you, distracted by the doorknob Second, you yelled my name louder and there you were You were like the blazing sun, burning the darkness out of my soul Your presence had instantly brought joy into my dad If only you knew how I felt Every time I see you, you're smiling And that's while I smile. We talk, we chat, ask how each other is doing I loved the harmonic tone in your voice, always joyful, always funny Your bright smile that makes the sun itself jealous. My darling, have I ever mentioned how beautiful you are? But I know I'll never have the chance to say it Then she calls you, away from me With one last smile, you bid your farewell and leave As quickly as you brightened my day, when you left it dimmed again If only you could feel the same way And I return to the doorknob, going off into emptiness A silent tear ran down my cheek But I didn't notice when you turned around But I did notice when you hugged me. Maybe you do know And you hugged me And I hugged you Maybe you knew everything all along. Maybe Just maybe © 2012 A Drawer of Paper RosesAuthor's Note
