My Heart That is an Abyss

My Heart That is an Abyss

A Poem by Keerthisree

Deep, dark fear blankets me in a shroud,

Unsettling as it may seem,

I refuse to let it tear me apart,

Though, I can’t help but muffle my scream.

I worry that if I open my mouth,

I would hear a deafening silence.

Because, I am aware that I am weak at heart,

And a false movement could throw me off balance.

I lack the strength to face my fear,

But perhaps it’s because of this;

I don’t know what I’m running from,

In fact, I’m scared to find out what it is.

Stupidity, one may easily think,

But it goes beyond that, I tell you my friend.

My heart knows not, a worthy soul,

To confide in until the end.

Help is what I seek the most,

In desperate times like this,

So, I ask from you an answer to,

My heart that is an abyss.
