Chisel

Chisel

A Poem by Esther Night

They’re chiseling

Chisel
Chisel
Chiseling at me

He’s got a chisel
She’s got a chisel
Everybody got a chisel
It seem like everybody’s wanting to tear me down
It’s a matter of time before I break

Stab one, I shaked it off
Stab two, just left a scar
Stab three, drew blood
Took five stabs at a time, sure it knock me down
But I managed to get back up
But their nowhere close to done

He’s got a chisel
She’s got a chisel
Everybody got a chisel
It seem like everybody’s wanting to tear me down
It’s a matter of time before I break

Chisel
Chisel

Chiseling, messing with my mind
Chiseling, playing with  my heart
Chiseling, using me with their words
Chiseling, lying to me with promises
Chiseling away my hope and sense

He’s got a chisel
She’s got a chisel
Everybody got a chisel
It seem like everybody’s wanting to tear me down
It’s a matter of time before I break
