Chapter 12

Kate nodded to Jake to run after them.

He ran after, until Duke dropped in front of him. Jake noticed Ivan threw something black behind him.  Duke pulled out his weapon, sliver, boomaged shaped, with spikes sticking out all around it. Jake swallowed and started stepping back.

Duke threw it.

Jake ducked.

It missed Jake and returned to Duke’s hands

Duke threw it again.

Jake ducked.

It missed Jake and returned to Duke’s hands.

Duke threw it again.

Jake ducked.

It missed Jake and returned to Duke’s hands.

 Jake began to hear ticking growing louder and louder.

He ducked again, looking around.

Not far from him, he saw a black square with wires all round it.

Attached was a blue screen with red numbers counting down.   

Ten seconds left he thought

He turned back around, Duke was gone.

The ticking grew louder and louder

Jake bolted to the door

He threw his body on the dirt, hearing the many pieces of the once city hall building spatter on the ground.

He inhaled and exhaled rapidly

Once he caught his breath, he looked up.

His vision was blurring, he could see a black figure on the ground in the distance.

He got up and ran to it.

His vision cleared, but he wished it didn’t.

 He saw Kate’s body lying on the dirt

His mouth opened, his heart grasping for air.

He collapsed to his knees.

Jake covered his face shaking.
